Southeast Lineman Training Center (SLTC) is one of the largest and most well-respected lineman training centers in the country. Since 1999, SLTC has expanded to offer three programs on four campuses spanning more than 100 acres in North Georgia, teaching students electrical linework, telecommunications linework, or crane operations. Their programs teach using immersive learning, providing hands-on training with a focus on providing practical experience working on equipment and in situations as similar to the real-world situations students are likely to encounter in the field.
As SLTC grew, its website stagnated, and as the site aged, the deficiencies the staff and students had to overcome in order to continue functioning continued to mount. The company matured, and SLTC decided it was time to update their website to match the standard of excellence maintained in all other aspects of their business. They wanted to hire an agency that could help them identify the primary areas for improvement, evolve their online brand and design, and improve the information architecture to create a streamlined and more automated system to serve both their students and staff more efficiently.
Delegator's team demonstrated a deep understanding of our needs, delivering a user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and functional website.
— David Powell, CEO, Southeast Lineman Training CenterAfter learning about SLTC’s needs, the Delegator team took a deep dive into their digital environment, starting a standalone Web Discovery Project that included interviews with key stakeholders and a tour of the campus. The Delegator team worked closely with the SLTC team to determine a roadmap for bringing their website up to date, and preparing it for continued growth.
The Delegator team approached the project from six dimensions:
Stakeholder interviews
Technical discovery
Content evaluation
UX Research
Competitor analysis
Roadmap development
Each of these dimensions provided a piece to the overall puzzle of how to best serve SLTC both internally and externally. Ensuring Delegator was in lock-step with the SLTC team was a vital part of the project, so our teams worked closely together, combining our insights into the industry and user needs in order to create a website that would fulfill and exceed every requirement.
After the Web Discovery Report was delivered to the SLTC team, with a detailed roadmap of Delegator’s recommendations based on SLTC’s needs and our understanding of the digital landscape, the SLTC team agreed with the proposed enhancements and wanted to quickly move forward with the process.
Delegator shifted focus to executing our outlined plan, following a process that included the following steps, each taken in lockstep with the vision and direction of the SLTC team:
Information Architecture Planning
Wireframes
Design & Content
Web Development
Quality Assurance Testing
Launch
Overall website health up from 8 to 93
74 average score to 90
92 average score to 96
Overall score went up from 87 to 100
Overall score went up from 87 to 95
After launching the new website, we saw dramatic improvements in the overall health of the website. More importantly, however, we were able to improve the information architecture, creating a more intuitive and helpful user experience for both internal and external users. We made it possible for users to more easily find answers to their questions, follow the application process, and explore useful information related to the programs SLTC offers.
Internally, SLTC employees now have a well-organized, easily updateable website with robust modules built on the Statmic platform, with which they can expand and grow their site into the future.
